Red Run Resort in eastern Lancaster County proves that traditional camping and modern connectivity aren’t mutually exclusive. The privately-owned resort combines classic camping experiences, including a chicken coop for fresh eggs, with luxury tiny homes, a new splash pad, and property-wide Wi-Fi that actually works.
Meeting Camper Expectations
For years, guests joked about standing on the office porch to get a signal. As Red Run shifted focus toward younger families, that spotty DSL connection became a liability.
“Having solid Wi-Fi connection or internet connection is not exactly standard in the camping and outdoor industry,” says Ethan, Red Run’s General Manager. “Having great Wi-Fi connection that’s easily accessible is an excellent way to set yourself apart.” The campground needed connectivity strong enough for remote work and streaming, and it needed to span across multiple acres of cabins, office space, and recreational areas.
Custom Infrastructure
When the local internet service provider ran fiber to Red Run’s office during 2024 renovations, Landis Technologies engineered the coverage. The deployment mixed hardwired runs to cabins, point-to-point bridges, and outdoor access points. And each cabin operates on its own private network, giving guests secure connectivity for work or entertainment.

The installation required creative problem-solving. During splash pad construction, crews accidentally damaged buried Ethernet cables. Landis technician, Demetrius, responded quickly with temporary fixes and long-term rerouting solutions.
“Demetrius had some creative ways of getting it fixed,” Ethan recalls. “He’s quite ingenious sometimes at just pulling together good ideas and making it work.”

A Better Guest Experience
Competitive Advantage: Reliable internet sets Red Run apart from local campgrounds where connectivity remains hit-or-miss.
Future Flexibility: The infrastructure foundation supports planned additions like security cameras, smart devices, and conference facilities for business retreats.
“It really changes the experience of guests when they can have a good internet experience, especially if they’re expecting to have mediocre Wi-Fi and we exceed their expectations,” Ethan notes.

The Partnership with Landis
Ethan describes Landis in three words: “Reliable, professional, and game-changing.”
Reliable: “If there is an issue, we do not have to worry about being stuck on our own. Landis has available quick support in the event of an issue.”
Professional: “This system had to be pretty customized… your team kind of understood that pretty well and made it work well for our property.”
Game-Changing: With proactive monitoring from Landis, Ethan doesn’t worry about the network. “It’s one of those things we can just put on the back shelf. I’m not going in there and checking things out. It’s been really nice because I know you’re keeping an eye on it.”
Red Run Resort proves that traditional hospitality and modern infrastructure can work together. Whether you’re running a campground, resort, or outdoor venue, reliable Wi-Fi has become table stakes for guest satisfaction.
